Heat losses in applied smouldering systems: Sensitivity analysis via analytical modelling

چکیده
As applied smouldering systems gain popularity for a variety of energy conversion purposes, there is strong interest in optimizing the reactor design to support robust smouldering. Heat losses play critical role balance systems, and therefore have implications toward understanding propagation limits design. an system were approximated by adapting analytical model from Kuznetsov (1996), originally developed unsteady local thermal non-equilibrium heat transfer porous cylinder, simulate cooling zone trailing front. The was adapted solving on domain that lengthens as expands at rate velocity. results are incorporated into global system, thereby providing inexpensive rapid method estimate efficiency. Confidence provided demonstrating its predictions compare well with existing experimental numerical estimates similar systems. then used quantify sensitivity two key parameters: radius insulation quality. efficiency shown be highly sensitive improved increased up ~0.1 m (i.e., laboratory-sized reactors). However, this diminished size. Beyond 0.4 radius, predicted high (~85-95%) relatively insensitive Therefore, commercial, batch treatment reactors do not need larger than protect against maximize their This threshold considerably less current can provide valuable cost savings.

متن کاملMathematical Modelling in Applied Analysis
Mathematical modelling in applied analysis refers to exploiting mathematical knowledge about (classes of basic) equations with the aim to describe and analyse phenomena that appear in the natural and technical sciences. As an example we will show that low dimensional models can be derived for phenomena that appear in (perturbations of) dynamical Poisson systems with symmetries. We show that the...
متن کاملSensitivity analysis approaches applied to systems biology models.
With the rising application of systems biology, sensitivity analysis methods have been widely applied to study the biological systems, including metabolic networks, signalling pathways and genetic circuits. Sensitivity analysis can provide valuable insights about how robust the biological responses are with respect to the changes of biological parameters and which model inputs are the key facto...
متن کاملSensitivity Analysis of Stress and Cracking in Rock Mass Blasting using Numerical Modelling
Drilling and blasting have numerous applications in the civil and mining engineering. Due to the two major components of rock masses, namely the intact rock matrix and the discontinuities, their behavior is a complicated process to be analyzed. The purpose of this work is to investigate the effects of the geomechanical and geometrical parameters of rock and discontinuities on the rock mass blas...
متن کاملModifed pennes' equation modelling bio-heat transfer in living tissues: analytical and numerical analysis
Based on modified version of the Pennes' bio-heat transfer equation, a simplified onedimensional bio-heat transfer model of the living tissues in the steady state has been applied on whole body heat transfer studies, and by using the Weierstrass' elliptic function, its corresponding analytic periodic and non-periodic solutions have been derived in this paper. Using the obtained analytic solutio...
